MarriageTeam believes that marriages can be saved! We believe that families are not destined to be torn apart by divorce or live desperately lost in confusion and bitterness. We believe that children deserve to live in homes that nourish their hearts and minds, where love is abundant and all their needs are met. This begins with mom and dad and their marital relationship.  What you believe about marriage today, will shape society tomorrow!

We believe there is a solution to help struggling couples find restoration, peace and true happiness – which is the reason they married in the first place, to be happy. We believe that if you have a good marriage, our program will help make it great!  Our program is unique – it is not counseling or therapy – it is coaching. We believe if a sports team, or a singer, a CEO or an athlete can have a coach, then why not have a coach for the foundation of a family – the married couple?

We are all born onto different teams (our families of origin). We grow up learning the ‘plays’ that work on those teams (plays for anger, self-expression, forgiveness, acceptance etc). As we grow, we develop our ‘playbook’ for life. Then we get married and in so doing, create a ‘new team’. Problems occur when we don’t share our old playbook with our new teammate. Suddenly there are fumbles, missed plays and frustration. No one is scoring and the team is falling apart.

We believe in training couples to develop their own common playbook. A resource they can draw from to help them with the struggles in life. Whether you seek coaching for starting off on the right foot (pre-marital), or to enrich your relationship or perhaps to restore what may be broken – we believe we can help you!

MarriageTeam is a Vancouver, Washington based 501 (c) 3 non-profit charity that offers marriage coaching services for pre-marital and married couples.  Our mission is to strengthen and save marriages.  We work with couples through a wide spectrum. From those couples seeking marital enrichment to those who have divorce papers in hand and marriage coaching has become the last ditch effort to save their marriage.  The majority of coaching is done couple-to-couple in private homes, while some coaches use Skype for long distance coaching – which has proven to be just as effective as coaching in-person coaching.  All coaches are volunteers who are well trained in our unique program.

MarriageTeam, was incorporated in March 2006 but has been operating since 2001. Our program is duplicable and can be easily adapted to fit just about any established program in a church or work setting. We have already expanded throughout Oregon, Western Washington and parts of Nebraska. We are investigating possibilities in Eastern Washington and California.  Our desire is to empower every couple with the practical skills needed to create a winning marriage.  While giving couples new knowledge and skills is essential, it is not sufficient to create lasting change.  Lasting change is the result of applying a learned skill enough times to create new patterns of behavior that will achieve the desired results.  Coaches facilitate the process of creating lasting changes that produce the desired results.

Vision

MarriageTeam envisions a day when it is second nature to ask a premarital or struggling couple, “Have you talked with a MarriageTeam coach?”  It is our desire that every pre-marital and married couple in America will have access to affordable coaching resources so they can be empowered with the skills needed for a winning marriage.

Objectives

Create and operate a marriage coaching program in communities across the nation to strengthen and renew marriages. Reduce the divorce rate in participating communities by 20% in 5 years.
