Heroes Who Save Marriages

…of numerous police and fire communities as well as members of our military. Many of these men and women died in an effort to save their fellow man.

There were nearly 1,900 police, port authority, fire department and military personnel killed during the 9-11 attacks. There were 2,819 total Americans lost on 9-11-2001. This means that 67% of all individuals killed on that fateful day were running toward the battle – to see if they could make a difference! This is staggering when you consider that many probably knew they were running to their death but did so anyway. Little did they know they were the first causalities in the war on terror.
There is another war raging in America. It’s the war on marriage. With pressures from every side to belittle, reshape and eliminate marriage, not to mention the burdens of staying happily married in a rat race world – is it any wonder many couples find it hard to sort it all out and finally decide to simply give up?   Individuals in our police, fire and military communities face an exceptionally high number of difficulties that can make staying married doubly difficult.  Many suffer in silence over broken relationships, distant children and disconnected spouses. Ask any member of the police, fire or military units in your town and they may share with you how hard it can be to maintain a quality and lasting marriage.  The results of these burdens are a high rate of divorce among service personnel in the armed forces, police and fire vocations. Some estimates are as high as a 75% divorce rate! In addition, just last year, the Washington Times reported that divorce rates among armed forces personnel have seen an alarming trend upward. This is especially troubling when you consider that members of the armed forces are more likely to get married compared to the civilian population. These men and women are heroes in every sense of the word because they choose to stand in the way of trouble and defend what is good and right, often at great personal sacrifice.

The heroes in the war on marriage are MarriageTeam coaches. Couples who give of their time, energy and talent to stand up and support what they know is right. We believe that a struggling couple that is truly willing to change can find restoration and healing with a marriage coach couple.  Coach couples have been fully equipped to support couples who are in the service and protection vocations. In fact, our executive director Al Ray is really Colonel Alan C. Ray. USAF. (Retired).  He spent 27 years in the Air Force and he and his wife Autumn understand firsthand the unique struggles facing a military marriage.  We believe we can help couples and families who serve as first responders. If you or someone you care about is serving in one of these capacities and would like to speak with us about getting marital support, please contact us at 360-450-6042 or via e-mail info@marriageteam.org. Also, if you feel called to become a hero in the war on marriage by serving as a coach, please let us know.  May God continue to bless America and thank you all who are serving our country.
